Anyone For A Round Of Roulette?

As early in the 18th century, roulette has established itself in the game of chance. Roulette is played on a rectangular table at the center of the table and at its end is a wheel whose perimeter is numbered in a non consecutive manner, 1 through 36, a zero and a double zero. The colors of half of the numbers are in red, and the other half of numbers in black, the zero and the double zeros are in green. Each of these numbers have a corresponding slot.

A small ball is spinned by a croupier in one direction inside the wheel which spins in the opposite direction. When the ball stops, the slot reveals the winning number. Beside the wheel is a felt material laid out on which bets are placed. The chips of the designated colors and values are placed on this layout of numbers acting as the bets. This roulette game pits one or more gamblers against the bank or the house.

When one watches a roulette round, you cant but help but look at the movements of participating gamblers. Since this is a game of chance, the gamblers are in great anticipation and jittery. As the small ball spins, the croupier rings a bell to signal "no bets" are entertained or allowed. Chips are all held in place, and the spin continues until it rests. The ball on a slot registers the winning wager. All non-winning bets are gathered and shoveled into a container under the rectangular table.

The counting and paying bets begin. When one bets and wins on any single number one is paid 34 to 1. When one bets on two numbers, and one number wins, the payout is 17 to 1. Although there are other bets possible, the payoff on a single number bet is 34 to 1 but the odds against winning is actually 38 to 1. Other casino games do not give the bank an average at 5.45 percent. This is higher than any of the other games in the house.

When chips or bets dwindle, the bank can commit their money into chipbets. The wagers made in the wins and they are piled into rows that a watcher knows the wager is hot and winning. Others just stop out of sight and try other games of chance.

Roulette is a game that many people may grow to like but at the same time it is a game that many also have trouble accepting their losses since it seems to be an easy game for them.
